WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service has arrested two individuals on May 5 in connection with a break-and-enter last summer that resulted in the theft of firearms, jewelry, cash, and other valuables.

The investigation began on Aug. 12, 2024, when officers were called to a local residence after a reported break-in. Several high-value items, including firearms, jewelry, Canadian currency, and game cameras, were stolen. Police forensic teams processed the scene, collecting fingerprints and DNA evidence in hopes of identifying the suspects.

The case saw a break on Sept. 10, 2024, when a local business alerted authorities about suspicious jewelry brought in by a customer. Police confirmed that several pieces matched descriptions of the stolen items. This led investigators to a suspect, who was later arrested during a traffic stop. A search warrant executed at the suspect’s home turned up additional stolen property.

Further investigation uncovered the involvement of a second suspect. Two people were located in Weyburn, taken into custody, and charged with multiple criminal offences.

The accused have since been released by the courts, pending further proceedings.

The Weyburn Police Service thanks the public and the cooperating business for their assistance in the investigation.

Authorities remind residents to report any suspicious activity and to keep records of valuable items to aid in recovery efforts if theft occurs.
