ASSINIBOIA — Soon-to-be retired Assiniboia Composite High School principal Brent Chadwick has been awarded the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV-Central District of Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association Service Award.
“This award is in recognition of his significant contributions to high school athletics in Assiniboia and the broader district,” says Matthew Lothian, athletic director at Assiniboia Composite High School.
Lothian gives an outline of the remarkable contributions Chadwick has made in his career.
“Here is a brief outline of Brent's contributions to the student-athletes throughout his career:
“Brent coached the Assiniboia senior football team (1997-2005) and senior boys basketball team (1997-2019) during his time at ACHS.
“During his tenure with the football team, the team captured the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV West Athletic Conference title in 2001 (assistant coach), 2003 (assistant coach), and 2005 (head coach).
“As head coach of the senior boys’ basketball team, his team experienced many conference, regional, and provincial successes. Highlights include:
• 2001 – placed fourth at Hoopla – 2A Boys
• 2008 – captured gold at Hoopla – 3A Boys
• 2009 – captured bronze at Hoopla – 3A Boys
“Brent was awarded the SHSAA Outstanding Coaching Award in 2009.
“To facilitate sport, Brent has been a basketball, football, softball and baseball official for the past 28 years in and around the Assiniboia community. He has also been SCD local officials’ co-ordinator for football and basketball for several years.
“Brent was awarded the SHSAA Outstanding Officials Award in 2020.
“In addition, Brent has volunteered his time as commissioner for several Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV-Central sections and districts, as well as SHSAA provincial events when ACHS has hosted over the years.”
Chadwick’s remarkable career as an educator included this long resume of athletic contributions that helped facilitate the development of athletes as well as engagement with students in these extracurricular activities.
