MOOSE JAW — Brenda Johnson, director of the Heritage Singers choir, invites you to the group’s annual Spring Concert, set to take place at the First Baptist Church beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

The concert promises an hour or more of uplifting choral music performed by the all-women’s choir, a local ensemble known for its warm harmonies and decades-long tradition of community music-making. No advance registration is required and refreshments will follow the performance.

“We’ve been practicing a beautiful lineup of spring-themed music,” said Brenda Johnson, longtime director of the Heritage Singers. “It’s really just about sharing our love of music with the community.”

The concert will feature a selection of 12 songs, chosen to reflect the renewing spirit of spring. Johnson promises that returning audience members can expect the same heartwarming energy the group is known for.

Johnson, who has been leading the choir for “many, many years,” said the Spring Concert is always a highlight on the calendars of many returning guests.

“People who’ve been to our shows before know what to expect — it’s a lovely afternoon of music in a welcoming space,” she said.

The Heritage Singers’ concerts have become a fixture in Moose Jaw’s cultural scene, often drawing a loyal crowd of supporters. While the group typically performs a few times each year, the springtime concert is especially meaningful as it symbolizes a fresh start after the long, enduring Prairie winter.

Attendees will have the chance to stay awhile after the performance for refreshments and a visit with the choir, something Johnson said helps bring people together.

“The (First Baptist) Church is a great venue for us,” she said. “It’s central, accessible, and creates such a nice atmosphere for both singing and visiting afterwards.”

Johnson encouraged anyone with a love for choral music or community gatherings to come out and enjoy the show, as everyone is invited.

“We’d love to see everyone there. It’s a relaxed, enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon,” she concluded.

Admission is a modest $5 per person and is payable at the door.

If you’re interested in joining the ladies’ choir, the Heritage Singers would be happy to accept new memberships. For any further questions please contact Brenda Johnson at 306-631-8095.

The First Baptist Church is located at 1010 Main Street North.
