Phase 10 of Moose Jaw's cast iron repair program kicks off today

Phase 10 will include the replacement of approximately 1.4 kilometres of cast iron pipe and 700 metres of feeder mains.

MOOSE JAW — The City of Moose Jaw is advising that phase 10 of the infrastructure renewal program (including water main replacement) begins today, Monday, May 5.

Phase 10 will include the replacement of approximately 1.4 kilometres of cast iron pipe and 700 metres of feeder mains at the following locations:

• Coteau St. W from 8th Avenue SW to 4th Avenue SW
• 6th Avenue SW from Coteau St. W to Grandview St. W
• 4th Avenue SW from Coteau St. W to Duffield St.
• Fairford St. W from Main St. N to 4th Avenue NW

Contractors will start construction at the Intersection of Main St. N and Fairford St. W and will be moving west. The 0 block of Fairford St. W will be closed to traffic, including the Main St./Fairford St. intersection, while the 1st Avenue NW and Fairford St. W intersection will remain open. The Main St. and Fairford St. intersection is expected to reopen to traffic the week of May 26, weather permitting.

Only local traffic will be permitted in the alleyways and parking lot off 1st Avenue NW and Fairford St. W to facilitate operations for the Moose Jaw Police Service ensuring access to the police station.

Road closure signs will also be in place on Main Street at the High Street and Ominica Street intersections, however, sidewalks will still be open during this time. The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents that all area businesses remain open during construction and access will be available via sidewalks and temporary walkways.

The transfer point for all Moose Jaw Transit routes will be temporarily moved to 1st Ave NW in front of Temple Gardens Centre starting May 5. The Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVbound bus stop at Main St and Ominica St W will be temporarily out of service during this time, customers are encouraged to read all posted transit signs.

Crews will also begin work on 4th Avenue SW from Coteau St. to Duffield St. starting on May 5, weather permitting. The Coteau St. and 4th Avenue SW intersection will remain open at this time. Drivers are reminded to obey all temporary traffic signage and exercise caution in construction zones to keep everyone safe.
