Regina gas prices inch up as national average climbs faster

Gas prices in Regina rose slightly this week, while the national average saw a bigger increase, according to GasBuddy's latest data.

REGINA — Average retail gasoline prices in Regina rose by 0.2 cents per litre in the past week, reaching 132.85 cents per litre on Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 82 gas outlets in the city.

In comparison, the national average price jumped 0.8 cents to 139.58 cents per litre over the same period, as reported by GasBuddy.com.

Despite the recent uptick, Regina drivers are still seeing a year-over-year decline in prices. Gasoline is currently 22.6 cents per litre cheaper than it was on this day last year, and 1.3 cents below last month’s average.

Historical data from GasBuddy shows that May 26 gas prices in Regina have varied significantly over the past five years:

  • 161.53 c/L in 2023
  • 184.07 c/L in 2022
  • 125.00 c/L in 2021
  • 94.98 c/L in 2020

Nearby markets reported mixed results. Prices in Saskatoon held steady at 134.38 c/L, while Saskatchewan’s provincial average rose to 133.84 c/L from 133.07 c/L last week. Winnipeg drivers saw some relief with prices dropping to 132.25 c/L, down 1.8 cents from the previous week.
