Nine players have joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders through yesterday’s Global and CFL drafts.

The Riders added three defensive linemen, an offensive lineman, a quarterback, a linebacker, a defensive back, a receiver, and a punter.

Defensive lineman Ali Saad was the Riders' first pick, fourth overall. The Riders then selected offensive lineman Erik Andersen in round two. Saskatchewan Roughriders Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Jeremy O’Day is excited for his first two picks.

“Ali Saad has the versatility to play inside and outside; he played both at Bowling Green. He’s a very productive, physical player, a playmaker-type defensive lineman. We're excited to get him. He is just a powerful player who is able to shed offensive linemen and play physical, so it's great to add a guy like that to our defensive front.”

“Eric Anderson, another guy obviously high on our board, played left tackle at Western, was a two-time All-Canadian and very athletic. He has the ability to play multiple positions and will add to the offensive line room. You have to build through the offensive line, protect the quarterback, so we're excited about the guys we took,” O’Day added.

In the third round, the Roughriders selected quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who will likely exhaust his NFL opportunities before coming to the CFL.

The Roughriders then added linebacker Seth Hundeby from the University of Saskatchewan in the fourth round. Defensive lineman Liam Hoskins in round five. In the sixth round, defensive back Gideon Agyei was picked. The Riders then rounded out their picks with University of Saskatchewan receiver Daniel Weibe.
