The Anaka family of Stenen had a pleasant surprise when they woke up on the morning of August 15 to see their child's quad and some tools had been returned after being stolen from their farm near Stenen.

The Assiniboine River Archery Club held its 26 th annual 3-D shoot August 10 and 11 at the Dale and Chad Swetlishnoff farm near Canora.

For the first time since 2008, the Canora Supers have captured the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Senior Baseball League title.

A total of 32 of the 69 graduates of the Canora Composite High School Class of 1979 gathered on July 19 and 20 at the group’s 40-year reunion. The reunion began with a meet-and-greet at the Canora Golf Course on Friday.

At its regular meeting on August 6 Canora Town Council adopted an amended nuisance bylaw. Michael Mykytyshyn, chief administrative officer, said it is a significant change from the previous policy.

Promotion of a seniors’ condominium project in Canora and an amendment to the nuisance bylaw were among the items of concern to town council at its regular meeting on August 6.

Canora’s new mayor will be chosen in a byelection to be held on August 28 in town council chambers, with advance polling on August 24. The four candidates in the running for the position are: Michael Kwas, Bill Reaume, Kerry Trask and Jim Vewchar.

On August 8, the Canora RCMP executed a Search Warrant of a large indoor and outdoor marijuana grow operation, according to an RCMP release. The Search Warrant was executed at a rural property near the hamlet of Tadmore.

The Canora swimming pool played host to a number of fun events and activities during Canora in Bloom, said Kelly Bazuik, manager. July 14 was the first day of free swimming.
