Application has been made to the new In Motion program for an initiative to put an outdoor play area and play structure at the sports ground, the Norquay Recreation Board was told during its regular meeting on February 8.

Organizers of the first KCI Winter Carnival are 鈥渧ery pleased鈥� with the experience and have learned much regarding how to make it better next year. The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute band students and parents organized the carnival from 4 p.m.

The Ralph Hilderman rink of Togo won the Togo bonspiel held February 14 to 18 with 14 rinks participating. With such mild weather that made the ice very heavy, it was a hard week for curling, said Amanda Burback, an organizer of the bonspiel.

The Norquay Seniors Bonspiel, which was held February 22 to 26, had a total of 29 rinks entered, which was said to have been the most the event has ever attracted. The games were each six ends, with points given for each win, tie or loss.

The Norquay Knights junior boys basketball team won the silver medal during the district competition at the Sacred Hearth High School in Yorkton on February 26 and 27.

A group representing Swan River/Pelly farmers, which has as its main goal to have the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) reinstated, unanimously passed a resolution to that effect at an open meeting on February 10 in Swan River.

Effective February 4, Parkland College announced the appointment of three new members to its board of governors: Don Bahrey of Canora, Brian Hicke of Melville, and Leonard Keshane of Keeseekoose First Nation.

After close to 350 performers participated in the Parkland Music Festival at the Canora Composite School during the week, a number of the top candidates performed for the final concert on February 13. About 75 persons attended the concert.

Police are looking for a Norquay man wanted on several Criminal Code warrants. On February 16, RCMP Media Relations issued a press release saying Kamsack RCMP were seeking the public鈥檚 assistance in locating Wayne M. Babiuk of Norquay.
