Employee of the Year nominees sought

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is hoping to receive a flood of nominations for its 2011 Employee of the Year Award.

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is hoping to receive a flood of nominations for its 2011 Employee of the Year Award.

"The city is full of really talented employees that do their best for their place of employment, and we feel this is one way for employers to show their recognition and appreciation to their employees," says Juanita Polegi, executive director of the Chamber.

Nominations are being accepted until April 8 from anyone-whether they be a business owner or a member of the public - who wishes to recognize a Yorkton employee.

"Members-at-large can nominate them as well, because we feel that it's important for the community to be involved," Polegi says. "They're the ultimate judge of whether they're receiving good customer service or not."

The Employee of the Year Award is for an employee who provides exceptional service to both their employer and to their community. The only requirement is that nominees have been working at their place of employment for at least two years.

The award will be presented at a May 4 gala at St. Mary's Cultural Centre. Polegi suggests employers take their employees out for this evening as another way of thanking them for their service.

Last year's Employee of the Year winner was Myrtle Zenkewich, a 15-year food service veteran at McDonald's Restaurant. Zenkewich was praised for her friendly service and strong work ethic.

Nominations can be submitted at the Chamber's website: chamber.yorkton.sk.ca
