YORKTON — Grandstand performances are always a highlight of the Yorkton Exhibition.
And this year will be no different as Saskatchewan’s own Teagan Littlechief hits the Legacy Co-op Main Stage kicking off things Wednesday evening.
For Littlechief the performance is something of a circle closing event.
“Well, it's been 23 years since performing on the grandstand for the 2002 GX94 Stat Search,” she told Yorkton This Week. “This place will always hold dear to me and since then it’s been a dream to come back and perform on the very stage that started my music career.”
So does she expect a different vibe from a ‘fair show’?
“Every place I've played has a different vibe,” offered Littlechief. “I love the energy each time I set out on any stage because it is different. If it was all the same I mean how do we as artists keep our jitters up?”
As for the music Littlechief she always plans a varied playlist.
“My playlist will always be mix of songs; some new songs, original songs, classic songs. In order to understand, you gotta be there,” she said with a smile.”. . . We want you to come and have fun. When you come to our show we love having crowd participation and a lot of joking on stage.”
The music varies in part because Littlechief’s influences are varied.
“My influences for this show vary from Martina Mcbride, Gretchen Wilson, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, The Chicks, Carrie Underwood to name a few,” she said. “. . . There will be a handful of original songs from me that I will bringing to the show. Other than that there will be some covers.”
The show begins at 9 p.m.
