The Boston Pizza Yorkton Regional High School Female Student of the Month for February is Joelle Bode. Joelle is a grade 12 student. She participates in both the band and choir programs at the YRHS.
She has been involved in the jazz band and vocal jazz for the past 4 years. Joelle has maintained a 90% plus average all throughout high school and is very dedicated to her studies. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, playing piano, and competing in the Yorkton Musical Festival. Joelle held a lead role in Seussical the Musical and also enjoyed being a part of the Sound of Music. In the fall, she is attending Dalhousie University with plans of completing a degree in Pharmacy. Congratulations Joelle!
The Boston Pizza Yorkton Regional High School Male Student of the Month for February is Kosta Stamatinos. Kosta is a grade 12 student at the YRHS. He has successfully maintained an above 90% average throughout his high school career and for having his average over 95% in grade 11 he was awarded a Greystone Scholarship to the University of Saskatchewan.
During his high school years he has been on the junior basketball team, the badminton team, participated in various intramural sports, travelled with the school to Greece last year and has been on the football team for 4 years. In his senior year he was one of the football captains and a starter on both offense and defense. In addition to school sports he has been very involved with the band program since grade 9. He has travelled with the bands to Orlando, Chicago, Banff, and also played at a Roughrider halftime show. Outside of school he participates in hockey and has made the Zone 4 team two years in a row. His biggest achievement came when his zone team won silver last year at the Saskatchewan 2010 Winter Games.
Kosta is planning to attend the U of S to get his Bachelor of Science in Archaeology. His future goal is to get his Ph.D. in Archaeology and become a university professor specializing in Greek and Roman history. Kosta is sad to graduate, but will be taking all the great memories with him as he moves along in life. Congratulations Kosta!
