YORKTON — The City of Yorkton has renewed the naming rights agreement for the Gallagher Centre, extending its partnership with the Gallagher family for another decade.

The Gallagher family has reaffirmed its commitment to the facility, continuing a naming rights agreement that has been in place for the past 20 years. Originally named in honour of George Gallagher in 2005, the Gallagher Centre will retain its name through to 2035, reflecting the family's dedication to local and regional sports and recreational activities.

“As a City, we are truly grateful for the Gallagher Family’s continued support of recreation and culture here in Yorkton.” said Yorkton Mayor Aaron Kienle.

“George and Doreen’s legacy lives on through this facility, and we are proud and thankful to see their name remain an integral part of our community’s story," added Kienle.

Kelly Gallagher, son of George and Doreen Gallagher, emphasized the family's enduring connection to the city.

“Our parents always had a special love for Yorkton as this was the place where they raised their family,” said Kelly.

“Although both of our parents are gone their memory lives on in the Yorkton community by being attached to the amazing facility, the Gallagher Centre. Our family will always be grateful of our time in Yorkton with many wonderful memories." added Kelly.

Since re-opening as the Gallagher Centre in 2005, the recreational facility has been a key part of Yorkton’s landscape, offering diverse facilities and programs for residents and visitors alike.

The City looks forward to continuing its association with the Gallagher family and maintaining the Gallagher Centre name for years to come.
