HUMBOLDT – Horizon School Division is hosting two hands-on career exploration events this June at the Humboldt Uniplex, bringing together more than 1,160 students, plus educators, trustees and industry experts.
Both events are made possible by industry partners who will share their knowledge to inspire the next generation. Through hands-on exhibits and conversations with professionals, students will explore careers, sustainability, and how industry shapes communities.
Student Agriculture Day is set for Tuesday, June 10, welcoming about 590 Grade 10 students from across the division. Daryl Harrison, Saskatchewan’s minister of Agriculture, will also attend and bring greetings at the event.
Wednesday, June 11, Student Mining Day will bring together around 575 Grade 11 students to explore Saskatchewan’s mining sector.
"We are proud to create opportunities where students can connect classroom learning with real-world experiences,” said Kevin C. Garinger, Director of Education for Horizon School Division.
“Thanks to industry support, these events empower our students to think about their futures, build career awareness, and develop a stronger understanding of the land and communities they call home.”
Horizon’s Indigenous education team will also be on hand during Agriculture Day to share teachings about the land and its deep ties to agriculture and Treaty relationships.
