It is an important department in the city and to improve its service, is going through some changes. The Humboldt Fire Department (HFD) will be making a few improvements this year.

It is an opportunity the community is looking forward to hosting. A committee is being put together to request the 2014 Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association (SSFA) 55+ Games be held in Humboldt.

The Women's Scotties Provincial playdowns continued on January 26. At 2 p.m., two local teams, Campbell and Gillies, faced off against each other. Gillies won the draw 5-4.

It showcased the talent of this community, while bidding goodbye to an important facility. "A Farewell Tribute to Sutherland Theatre "- the final concert in the facility before it is torn down later this year - was held on January 22.

It's done. The new Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) is ready for occupancy. Teachers and staff began transitioning to the new building attached to the Humboldt Uniplex this week, while students are writing final exams at the old building.

A wealth of Humboldt athletes were recognized at the City of Humboldt's Awards Recognition ceremony for 2011 on January 20.
