The Battleford Quilters celebrated their 40th anniversary last week with a come and go tea at the Alex Dillabough Centre. Formed on March 6, 1974, the group enjoys the traditional art of hand-quilting.

It's been 40 years since the first women officers began training for the RCMP.

Yarnbombing, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting, yarnstorming or graffiti knitting. Whatever you call it, it's a growing movement in street art that has now come to North Battleford.

Ten members of the Battlefords Art Club worked at the Don Ross Centre Tuesday. Plans are underway for their trip to Saskatoon Oct. 7 for a galleries tour. Members are working to get ready for their fall exhibition at the Chapel Gallery Oct.

The summer has gone quickly for us and we are now looking forward to fall activities. This month we have a entertainment lined up beginning with the Nifty Fifties singing Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. and on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.

Recently a friend and I took a drive out to Shiloh Church and cemetery. This church was built in 1911 by a group of black people who had relocated from Oklahoma, U.S.A.

School has now been in session for over a week so students will be once again getting used to the weekly routine. Best wishes to all students for a happy and successful year.

A nice weekend was appreciated by holiday folks who are more often treated to a wet outing. The coming of fall brings all kinds of changes.

September has everyone back in the swing of things with school starting Sept. 2 and many organizations and events back from the summer hiatus.

Manitou Evangelical Free Church in Neilburg hosted their Weird Animals Vacation Bible School Aug. 18-22. Sixty-six children attended during the week, with an average attendance of 55 a day.
