At the start of Grade 12 for our daughter, I said I would be panicking by the first day of summer. Here it is and yes, I am panicking. The to-do list for graduation still seems long but the days of having our girl at home seem to be getting shorter.

Tuesday was a beautiful day and it was great to see the sunshine after the lovely rain. A dozen Battlefords Art Club members gathered and more plans were made for our art show and sale to be held at the Meota sailing regatta building July 13 and 14.

The HMR Sport Horse Club Inc. hosted the Spring Fling, a two-day open heritage circuit horse show, May 25 and 26. The show took place at Hidden Meadows Ranch northwest of Battleford.

A Father's Day celebration was held at Wheatland Lodge long-term care facility in Leask June 14. The common area was decorated with a fishing theme.

I feel very lucky that I was able to tape record an interview with my dad before he passed in 1992. I had a feeling. But that's not unusual. Intuition has always run deep in my dad's family.

The Rural Municipality of Hillsdale, No. 440, celebrated its 100th anniversary June 12 at the spring ratepayers' meeting held in the Neilburg Community Hall.

Jane Shury (nee Miller) was born July 23, 1934 to Melcher Miller and Katherine Gaertner at Leipzig. Jane completed all of her elementary school education at the Leipzig Public School and Grades 9 through 12 at the Notre Dame Convent in Leipzig.

An event that has grown in popularity since 2008 had a new time frame this year, and it looks as if it will be the same next year.

Students are writing exams and preparing for the end of the school year, looking forward to summer holidays.

Four North Battleford Comprehensive High School students competed at the national level of Skills Canada in Vancouver, B.C. June 5 through 8, bringing home two bronze medals.
