Every spring, we are reminded of the Canadian Cancer Society's ongoing quest to defeat cancer as bright yellow daffodils begin appearing at various Battlefords businesses. Wednesday, March 20 is the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Tea.

John (Jack) Boyd: An entrepreneur and citizen without peer

Jack Boyd was born to George and Minnie Boyd on Sept. 27, 1903 in a log and sod cabin in the district of Lovell (later to be named Cee Pee), N.W.T. His family moved to Radisson in 1905, and then to North Battleford in 1913.

The Marsden Recreation Board held a snowmobile rally and chili cook-off Feb. 23, from the Marsden Community Hall. It was a poker-hand type rally with the lucky winners drawing tokens out of a bag at each checkpoint.
