We arrived safely Feb. 15 and the weather is great here - warm and sunny with temperatures in the high 20s. My son Bryan lives on an acreage, so there are lots of horses, dairies and sheep close by.

The Blaine Lake Library board held its first annual Valentine's Day Extravaganza Feb. 12. Seventy-two guests gathered at the senior centre to enjoy a catered meal and live local entertainment.

Denholm Curling Club held their annual bonspiel Feb. 4 and 5 with nine teams entered and $1,400 given out in prize money.

February was once again a busy month for members of the Maidstone Gully 4-H Club. Feb. 4 and 5 the junior curling team headed to Biggar for regionals where they lost out in the B final.

It feels so good to see the sun out earlier in the morning and a little later each evening. That brings composure back to the soul from the months of short days. Next week we will be mulling over whether March came in like a lamb or a lion.
