There have been times in recent years where the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings football team have been on the wrong end of lopsided scores. Those past results are what made Thursday鈥檚 night performance even more memorable.

After two wins to start the season, the John Paul II Crusaders football team saw their momentum come to a screeching halt Thursday.

It wasn鈥檛 quite the full 60-minute effort that Battlefords North Stars general manager and head coach Nate Bedford was hoping for Wednesday night.

There was a dramatic contrast of results for the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings senior girls' volleyball team in their first two tournaments of the season.

The Humboldt Broncos opened their 2016-2017 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with a weekend sweep of the Notre Dame Hounds. The Broncos kicked off their season on home ice on Sept. 17 for the front half of a home-and-home with the Hounds.

With two pre-season games in the books, Battlefords AAA Stars head coach Darren Martens is enthused by the progress his squad has made in a short amount of time. 鈥淭hey are really playing more like a team,鈥� Martens said.

Normally, 41 shots would be enough to win a hockey game. That wasn鈥檛 the case for the Battlefords North Stars in Yorkton Tuesday night.

Kevin Martin is quite familiar with how much curling means to North Battleford.

The Wilkie Curling Club will be back on the ice this curling season. After last season鈥檚 tragic fire at the Wilkie Arena, many curlers were forced to go elsewhere and some chose not to curl at all.

Most soccer coaches would probably be left wondering what happened if their teams were involved in a match where they combined for 16 goals.
