The Battlefords AAA Sharks are working towards accomplishing their goals in the playoffs, and are beginning to be acknowledged for their hard work they have put in this season.

The Battlefords Stars clashed with the Notre Dame Argos for the second time in eight days, looking for the sweep and their eighth win of the month. To say they played well would be an incredible understatement.

A heartbreaking loss to Melfort in the dying seconds of the third period gave the North Stars a rare two-game losing streak.

Thursday night the AAA Stars had yet another opportunity to help solidify a playoff spot clashing against a team just three points behind them in the standings.

"When coming to the rink is fun, the dressing room is a safe place to be who you are, and when your players call each other brothers, sisters, family or friends, you have accomplished something special."

The North Stars wanted to turn the page four days after a rare 7-1 defeat at the hands of the La Ronge Ice Wolves. On the other side of the rink, Melfort was also looking to rebound, taking a 6-3 loss to Humboldt Tuesday.

"As a unit, they are one of the hardest working lines in the SJHL."

It was a disappointing week for the Humboldt Broncos. The Broncos went out on the road this week with some momentum after picking up three of a possible four points. They return home licking their wounds after finishing the week 0-3.

Skiers were carving up the trails at Carlton Trail Ski Club Jan. 24, as the club hosted the Sask Cup #3 cross-country skiing race. The race brought out 65 competitors in 23 different events and skiers ranged in age from 4- 64 years old.

It鈥檚 not a secret that the Stars are one of the hottest teams in the SMAAAHL. After splitting a series against the third place Moose Jaw Generals, they were at it again in Notre Dame. Coming into the weekend, the Stars were 5-1 in January.
