The Meota Combines (8-2-0-0) and Battleford Beaver Blues (6-4-0-0) each played a pair of games over the weekend, beginning with a head-to-head match up New Year鈥檚 Eve.

The Meota Combines (6-2-0) continue to rack up the wins. Dec. 17 they travelled to Spiritwood to take on the Timberwolves (1-7-0) and picked up a 7-2 win.

Zac Ironstand moved out west when he felt he needed a better fit. While fitting into things might not be easy when you鈥檙e 6鈥�3鈥欌�� and 255 pounds, the Okanagan Suns football team in Kelowna, B.C. was evidently a perfect fit for Ironstand.

The Battlefords AAA Stars and AAA Sharks are in Calgary participating in the annual Mac's Tournament. The tournament welcomes midget AAA teams from around the world to take part in the short, week-long event.

When the Humboldt Broncos take the ice, they do so with a lot of confidence in the goalies who are the last line of defence. 鈥淭here is not an issue in our crease,鈥� Broncos head coach Ryan Smith said earlier this season. 鈥淭hey have been very good.

A major curling bonspiel event is coming to Twin Rivers Curling Club early in the new year. The 2015 Goldline Saskatchewan Players Championship takes place January 2 through 4.

The Battlefords Roller Derby League鈥檚 Rubby Rollers ended their season on a high note, winning their final game by a score of 171-157 over the Saskatoon Killa Bees.

The Battlefords Midget AAA Stars (17-9-0-0) dropped both games against the Regina Pat Canadians (20-0-5-1) this weekend, 6-5 Saturday and 4-1 Sunday. Saturday, Owen Sillinger had two goals and three assists to lead the Canadians attack.

The Battlefords AAA Midget Sharks (7-11-1-0) lost back-to-back games to the Regina Rebels (6-6-2-3) to end their 2014 calendar year. Saturday, Lilla Carpenter-Boesch had a hat trick to power the Rebels to a 6-4 win.
