The 2013 Battlefords Ladies' Fastball League season showcased a lot of great teams and close games, but one team was able to run away in the standings. The Unity Midgets went undefeated finishing with four more wins than the second place team.

The inaugural year, 2012, for the U.K. Royals was a good one. Fielding a team made up of players from both Unity and Kindersley, a phenomenal year was experienced winning both a Provincial Jr. B title as well as capturing the Western Canadian Jr.

Dwayne Brenna wasn't different from most kids growing up in rural Saskatchewan, at a young age his dad put him in baseball and he loved it. Fifty years later, Brenna still plays.

The Battlefords North Stars held their annual general meeting Monday night and elected the board members for the upcoming Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season. Darren Huxley was named the team's new president.

A rainy weekend caused many schedule changes for the tournament but it proceeded with the Hurricane boys playing two games on Saturday.

For both the Marysburg Royals and the Muenster Red Sox, no opponent this year has been as daunting as the weather. Both teams have lost several games this season due to rain.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders wrapped up their pre-season schedule on June 20 with a 24-23 loss to the Calgary Stampeders in front of 32,003 fans in Regina.

With baseball season in the Battlefords coming to an end soon, there's a new sport starting up to take its place. The Battlefords Roller Derby League started up in September. It welcomes women 18 and older to join the fast growing sport.

The weather was perfect Monday night and the pitching for the Battleford Bantam Bandits wasn't far off.
