The senior baseball season is less than a month away and the schedule has been finalized. The North Battleford Beavers will start the season May 22 at home to the Wilkie Brewers.

Before the Battle River Archers are set to take aim outside, but before they do that this weekend they wrapped up the indoor archery season at the Saskatchewan Archery Association's indoor provincial competition in Prince Alberta April 14 and 15.

The season is over and now teams and the executive of the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League will look to the 2012-13 campaign.

Cami Wooster of Luseland was part of the Sask Tazers last year when that team won the Western Shield Female Hockey Championship in Manitoba. This year she played in the 51st Western Shield Female Hockey Championship in Regina with the Sask.

The weather heated up on the weekend and the North Battleford Water Doves found a place to cool off, as they jumped into the water during the Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Stream Synchronized Swimming competition.

The Swiss are apparently known for their army knives, 3D chocolate and down hill skiing and the third fact was true once again at the Whistler Cup April 6 to 8.

Two years after its creation, the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League is going strong. When the league first started it was a four-team league that included Battleford, Saulteaux, Maymont and Radisson.

And the last shall be first - so says the Good Book - and so it was April 23 when the New Horizons played their first rounds of golf for the season at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.

Because the night temperatures were still dropping a little lower than the staff at the Jackfish Lake Golf and Conference Centre would have liked they delayed the start of the golf season, but Wednesday they will be in full swing.

Get out the cowboy hats, boots, belt buckles and Wrangler jeans as one of the most anticipated annual events in the Battlefords is set to take place at the Civic Centre this weekend.
