It appears the Battlefords North Stars may have started their holidays a week early, as they have struggled in their last three games. Obviously the message to the team from coach Kevin Hasselberg is to put those games behind them and move forward.

December 21Battlefords North Stars host the Humboldt Broncos in SJHL action. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre. December 21Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League has the Battlefords Beaver Blues in Glaslyn for an 8 p.m. start.

Anyone, who has watched the Battlefords AAA Sharks during the previous four seasons likely would have noticed one player on the ice. That player catching everyone's attention was Amanda Grainger.

It was a busy week in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League and the Maymont Settlers took advantage of the busy schedule winning all three of their games, moving to the top of the standings.

No matter which team you were looking at, it wasn't a good result for the Battlefords Thursday night. In SJHL action, the Battlefords North Stars loss their third straight game as they hosted the Flin Flon Bombers.

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League schedule is nearly half over for two teams, Maidstone and St. Walburg, and those two teams ate sitting on top of the standings.

The Humboldt Broncos put an abrupt end to the Battlefords North Stars' 13-game winning streak by pounding them 5-0 in front of a crowd of 600 at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt on December 11.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks were trying to carry the momentum of their first win of the season into Tuesday's game, but that wasn't the case.

Their strength is growing. The Humboldt Broncos got two more wins in away games last week in Melfort and Nipawin.

They're tall, they're fast, and they're strong. And they won their home tournament last weekend.
