It has to be considered a dynasty when you have played in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League championship for nine straight seasons.

Teams of the North Battleford Touch Football League were back in action as the regular season began Tuesday.

The ice is in and hockey season is just around the corner. Midget and bantam aged players hit the ice on the weekend for the Battlefords Midget Stars' training camp and new head coach Lorne Nielsen was excited with what he saw.

As the world's best golfers were on the course competing for the PGA Championship, some of the best the Battlefords and surrounding area has to offer were also on the course in North Battleford.

After what was a bit of a struggle this season for the midget aged baseball players from the Battlefords, one of them found a silver lining.

Ernest Roy Burns was born Oct. 12, 1913 and was raised on the family farm at Flintoft Plessis. He took his schooling at Plessis, then spent the next few years working on farms until taking over the family farm in 1954.

The first half of the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games from Kamloops, B.C. is completed. Four local area athletes competed in the first half of the games in track and field. The locals also contributed to Saskatchewan's medal count.

Three Battlefords Midget Bandits traded in their uniforms for Pilot Butte Storm attire in the last month, as they were picked up to play in Medicine Hat at the Midget B Women's Fastball Western Canadian Championships.
