The Unity Midgets finished out the regular Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League regular season on top of the standings. Battleford Midgets were second, with the Jr. Vipers third and Edam Ladies batting cleanup.

Hugh Carr, a Notre Dame Hounds pitcher, is being inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame. Born Hugo Raymond Dombowsky, Oct. 13, 1929, he died Hugh Carr, Nov. 16, 1972. He grew up in Avonlea.

The Battlefords Ladies' Fastball League was in action three nights this week, making up games to tie up the regular season, with playoffs slated to start Monday. Monday night the Unity Bantams 2 slugged out an 8-3 victory over the Survivors.

Monday night at Beaver-Lions Stadium, the North Battleford Beavers used a five-run sixth inning to dispose of the Mid-West Expos 6-4.

They lost on the road but won huge at home. On June 22, the Marysburg Royals senior baseball team travelled to Saskatoon to take on the Saskatoon Blue Jays. The game started well as Marysburg jumped out to a 5-2 lead after two innings.

It was a smashing success. Despite the weather, around 1,500 people gathered at the Uniplex grounds on June 26 to watch the 40th annual JCI Humboldt Demolition Derby.

The Humboldt Midget AAA Dodgers split a doubleheader last weekend against the visiting Regina Wolfpack, taking the opening game 8-3 but losing the second match by a count of 4-2.

June 21 marked the first day of summer and during the short summer season residents of the Battlefords and area are drawn to the shores of Jackfish Lake.
