One Battlefords North Stars rookie had a breakout game offensively, but it wasn't enough, as the North Stars surrendered four goals in the third period and lost 6-5 to the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Although there were no North Battleford teams playing, two regional soccer playoffs took place in North Battleford, and local area teams advanced to provincials. In the seven versus seven boys' playoffs Cando earned regional gold.

The luxury of having ice in rinks before many of the other communities in the league, means hockey is already in full swing for the Battlefords teams. Atom AA Barons The AA atom team had a home and away game on the weekend and earned one win.

The original seven community organizations involved with the North Battleford public skating programs stepped up for their fourth year of sponsorship recently, and, days later, another organization, North Battleford Elks, joined the team.
