Dear Editor Did you know that 18 million Canadians are members of at least one of the 9,000 plus co-operatives across this country? In fact, many members themselves might not even realize that they belong to one.

One of my wintertime guilty pleasures is watching cooking shows on the idiot box. It's not the best plan for dieters but, if you love to cook, it's a great place to get inspired and to update your menus.

There is nothing more heart-wrenching, devastating and sickening than reading about someone who died at the words -not hands- of someone else. Bullying.

Dear Editor Most of the "Safety Tips" printed in the Oct. 3 News-Optimist are things I have always done. But there is one that disturbs me: "When going out alone, make sure to tell friends or family." I live alone, as do many people.

A weekly highlight for us is dinner with our sons and their families. Be it a celebratory turkey dinner or a simple bowl of homemade soup and fresh baked bread, the thrill is in being together.
