Dear Editor Once again we are having to pay for being Native to this land. No other race has ever had to pay so much for living on it; not even the immigrants. We, the original occupants of this land keep having to pay over and over again.

This winter has been a long one, even by Saskatchewan standards. The snow fell in early November and it hasn't gone away, not even for a weekend.

The latest Scandal Du Jour in Ottawa revolves around those "unelected, unaccountable, greedy" appointees who sit in Parliament's upper house. I am talking, of course, about the Canadian Senate.

When my grandfather came to Canada in 1930 at the age of 13, his family cleared 19 acres of land, by hand in their first year. They didn't have tractors, chain saws or electricity. They had horses, saws, axes and plows.

Wine suppliers around the world are very interested in Canada. Between 2005 and 2009 Canadian wine consumption increased 22.5 per cent, leaving the beer and spirits category growth in the dust.

Dear Editor Recently, I agreed to volunteer at my daughter's school, and to do so I needed a criminal record check. Despite the local detachment of the RCMP acting as quickly as they could, my vulnerable sector check wasn't going to make it in time.

We all go through life making plans. To go to school, to get married, to have kids - those are the big ones. We also make little plans.

Dear Editor The Harper Government has been using the phrase, "Standing up for farmers" when they make agricultural announcements. But I think "sticking it to farmers" is more realistic.

Dear Editor It is a clear blow to farmers and Canadian democracy that the Supreme Court decided not to hear the farmers' appeal on whether the Conservative government had followed the law in abolishing the farmers' single desk marketing system.

Dear Editor I have had some experience with the emergency department at the Battlefords Union Hospital. I found the service and the outcome of treatment I received to be fair.
