Dear Editor Thank you Brian Zinchuk. Your From the Top of the Pile column in the May 9 News-Optimist reminded us why we need organizations like the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health, Planned Parenthood and for local sexual health centres.

Let me tell you this: having an arm in a cast is no fun. Having said that, it wasn't all bad. Among other things, I was able to watch a lot of movies on TV to get my mind off the fact that my arm was in a cast.

April 25, and I was delighted to find stocks of rhubarb breaking through the ground in my garden. Ed, my neighbour next door, noticed me doing garden clean up. Being bored and restless, Ed came to the fence to waste some time talking to me.

This is my favourite time of year for gardening. The weeds aren't out of control and the insects haven't started to bug me, yet. I realize it isn't a time to enjoy the sweet scents and vibrant colours or tasty treasures from the earth.

We know, or should know, that the lower our resting heart rate the more fit we are. The average persons resting heart rate is about 72 beats per minute (bpm).

Dear Editor Regarding "City pushes for downtown professional services" (Regional Optimist, May 6), one has to wonder . . . is this another April Fool's joke? First of all, I must be clear I have no vested interest in this issue.

I'm writing to thank a man who took at least an hour out of his day to help two young girls who had a car accident May 8 on Highway 4, somewhere near Glaslyn.

You would think given such song-writing talents for the politically-charged hard rock group Rise Against, their newest studio album should be more then only their fifth.
