Dear editor, As president of the Saskatchewan Volunteer Firefighters Association, I have seen firsthand the dedication of volunteer firefighters and their positive impact on the lives of residents and businesses all around Saskatchewan.

Domestic violence. Two words that are not pretty, not just in how they sound, but in the images they conjure. Spousal abuse. Child abuse. Battery. Assault. Those are even uglier words. They go with the others hand in hand.

It?s been a week of fragrances and odours - some inspiring, some less than uplifting.

You?ve decided to start working out. Congratulations! For many people, it?s time to get suited up. This might mean finding some old sweat pants and your comfiest t-shirt.

It's a cause to celebrate! Especially for dad's who still play or want to play video games.

Over the past few days every time my husband walks through the door, he reports the number and variety of returning birds and moving animals he has seen as he has gone about his daily tasks. I think it means spring is finally here.

It's done. The Humboldt District Health Complex has been officially opened. Employees of the Humboldt District Hospital were buzzing around the facility in the days before April 1, making last-minute preparations before it was unveiled to the public.

At times, when we see others walking a dangerous path, we long for better things for them. It may be a grown son or daughter, or other family member. Or simply a close friend.

Dog overcoats, dog dresses, dog bling, dog shoes, dog hats, dog haircuts, dogs that yap, dogs that yip, dogs that yodel, grrrrrrrr . . . Ladies and gentlemen, I submit the following.

It?s March and I?m tired of comfort food. I?ve craved enough salty, fatty snacks to last a year and although I want to bake and eat batches of cupcakes I don?t really want to eat batches of cupcakes.
