Suspect arrested with sawed-off firearm after aerial-assisted pursuit

Man faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

REGINA – Early Saturday morning, Regina police apprehended a suspect allegedly carrying a concealed sawed-off firearm after a coordinated effort between patrol officers and the Aerial Support Unit (ASU).

The incident began around 2:20 a.m. on June 7, when ASU officers spotted a suspicious individual near 4th Avenue and Retallack Street. Ground units were directed to the scene, where they located the suspect in a nearby alley. When officers approached, the male fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a short chase.

A search of the area uncovered a bag belonging to the suspect, containing a sawed-off firearm and ammunition.

Jude Pableo, 29, faces multiple charges, including possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

Pableo made his first court appearance Monday morning in Regina Provincial Court.
