Saskatoon - One man was arrested following an evade police incident early this morning.
At around 1:40 a.m. on June 19, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Diefenbaker Drive.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Vanier Crescent; however, it did not stop for police and began to evade.
The Air Support Unit took over following the vehicle’s movements while officers on the ground positioned themselves to deploy a tire deflation device; the vehicle came to a stop at 21st Street West and Avenue V Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV where the driver then began to flee on foot.
Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended by a Police Service Dog.
Upon search of both the vehicle and suspect, officers located cocaine.
As a result, the 28-year-old man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police while failing to stop, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
