National Volunteer Week was celebreated in Canada during April 7 to 13. This year鈥檚 theme was: 鈥淐elebrate the Value of Volunteering鈥�. Volunteer Week is a time to recognize, celebrate, and say 鈥渢hank you鈥� to Canada鈥檚 estimated 12.7 million volunteers.

At long last, spring has finally arrived and not a moment too soon. Spring is magic here on the prairies. Very soon, the grass will be green, buds on shrubs and trees will become leaves, and flowers will be all in full bloom.

鈥淚t was really okay鈥�, said Assiniboia Mayor Bob Himbeault. 鈥淭he meeting was very casual, and most people I spoke with afterwards felt it was quite good.

A Mother鈥檚 Day Tea and Fashion Show will be presented by the Friends of the Gravelbourg Convent on Saturday, May 12.

The Assiniboia and District Pro-Life will host their spring banquet at the St. George鈥檚 Parish Centre on Sunday, May 6 at 6 p.m. The keynote speaker is Carla Carlson, a Swift Current area lawyer and palliative care advocate.
