EPS charges one person for assault, responds to vehicle fire

A 47-year-old man faces multiple charges following a recent assault as police respond to various incidents across the city.

ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service confirmed multiple charges for a 47-year-old man in the May 20 police report.

An assault, reported in the May 19 media release, has resulted in that individual being charged with uttering threats, assault and theft under $5,000. He was subsequently released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a future date to speak to the charges.

Also on May 20, EPS members kept the peace while former spouses exchanged property at a previously shared residence. Police mediated several times before the exchange was complete.

A scam committed through PayPal was reported and remains under investigation.

An investigation into the theft of two fuel canisters from the back of a vehicle has been started following a theft.

A two-vehicle collision in the downtown area resulted in one vehicle being towed from scene.  No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

A male was arrested for committing mischief at a local motel by breaking a window. He fled the scene but was located a short distance away and arrested without incident.

An early-morning vehicle fire that occurred south of the city is being investigated by the EPS and the Estevan Fire Rescue Service. The fire department attended and put the fire out. No injuries were reported.
