ESTEVAN — One of the four people charged in connection with a drug bust in Estevan in August 2024 has pleaded guilty to two of the charges he was facing.

Brennan Stephen McKeen pleaded guilty to one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine. Other charges were stayed, including trafficking in cocaine and methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, and violating the terms of his release order.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 8 in Estevan.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled to occur Aug. 25 and 26 regarding the drug bust. Two of the four co-accused – Devon William Martell and Jessica Louise Rutter-McKeen – are scheduled to appear during the hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence for them to stand trial. Charges have been stayed against a fourth person.

Background: The four were arrested Aug. 9, 2024 after search warrants were executed at five locations in Estevan. All four were charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine); possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine); trafficking a schedule 1 substance (cocaine); trafficking a schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine); and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. A couple of the accused individuals had other charges.

The Estevan Police Service said it seized one kilogram of cocaine, 50 grams of methamphetamine, two rifles, a Ford F150 that the EPS said is offence-related property, and approximately $8,000 in Canadian currency. The street value of the illicit drugs recovered, according to the EPS, was $150,000.
