The Weyburn Comprehensive School presented their year-end awards for extra-curricular activities, including sports, band and choir groups, in ceremonies held the evening of June 13 in the Cugnet Centre. The awards from the band and choir groups are as follows.
In jazz band, Zoe Molder was named the Most Valuable Player, and the Director鈥檚 award went to Jordyn Hutchings. For the STARS Show Choir, pianist Dawson Alexander was named the Most Valuable member, and the Advisor鈥檚 award went to Sydnee Phillips.
The awards from the drama-musical went to Levi Woodard for the Andrea Eckel award, and Tyra Sandiford, who won the Advisor鈥檚 award.
Members of the SRC were awarded, with the gavel going to Tyra Sandiford and Sam Ferguson, the 鈥淗eart of the SRC鈥 to Morgan King, the SRC Spirit Award to Landon Field and the Treasurer鈥檚 Gift to Morgan King.
For the Yearbook, the Royal Purple Award went to Brogan Reiger, and the Advisor鈥檚 award went to Louise Pasqua. The Performing Arts award went to Ensley Akins, the Bethel Trophy went to Spencer Anderson, the George Pierce award went Morgan King, the Andrews & Wilder trophy went to Kylee Adacsi, and the Rose Brothers trophy went to Austin Lund.
The Block Ws and Super Block Ws were awarded based on the number of points accumulated by students for extra-curricular participation at the Comp.
Super Block Ws for social went to Tyra Sandiford and Morgan King, and for athletics, went to Levi Woodard and Kylee Adacsi. Block Ws for social went to Columbia Garbutt, Jayla Kaip, Jordyn Hutchings, Emily Richards, Dawson Alexander, Jana Rodriguez, Sam Ferguson, Kaj MacMurchy and Zoe Molder. For the Comprehensive, Block Ws for social went to Nivay Haupstein and Sydnee Phillips, and for athletics, they went to Cody Vilcu, Curtis Regnier, Rylie Mainil, Brynna Spence, Josh Mowchenko, Graham Schmidt, Spencer Anderson and Austin Lund.
The awards for Cheerleading included the MVP Excellence award, presented to Tyra Sandiford, and the Coach鈥檚 award, presented to Hailey Bedore. For the pom squad, the Excellence award went to Janelle Pouliot, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Chloe Gill.
For Comp senior high sports, the following awards were presented. In badminton, the MVP award was presented to both Travis Friedrick and Curtis Regnier.
In girls basketball, the MVP went to Tiarrah Umbach, and the Most Improved award went to Lindsay McLeod. In boys basketball, the MVP was Spencer Anderson, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Earl Pineda.
In junior girls basketball, the MVP was Meagan Dutchak, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Niki Shanaida. In junior boys basketball, the MVP was Owen Hiltz, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Ben Anderson.
In cross-country running, the MVP was Kaitlyn Harrison, and Graham Schmidt received the Coach鈥檚 award.
For boys curling, the Emil Porth Award went to Nivay Haupstein, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Braden Birnie. In girls curling, the Bob Petit award went to Emily Haupstein, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Abbey Johnson. In mixed curling, the MVP was Rachel Ryan, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Landon Field.
For the Comp Eagles football team, the Allen Moffat award went to Austin Lund, and the Al Watson award went to Reece Skjonsby.
In girls鈥 soccer, the MVP was Rachel Ryan, and the WSA Dedication-Leadership award went to Morgan Sidloski. For boys鈥 soccer, the MVP was Josh Mowchenko, and the WSA Leadership award went to Braeden Junk.
In track and field, the Len Williams Excellence award went to Austin Lund, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Mary Sidloski. In girls鈥 volleyball, the MVP was Jeena Johner, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Kianna Cuthbert. For boys鈥 volleyball, the MVP was Paul Dionne, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Spencer Anderson.
In junior girls volleyball, the MVP was Kylee Adacsi, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Chaylene Lascelle. For junior boys volleyball, the MVP was Jaxon Chartrand, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Ben Anderson.
In wrestling, the male MVP was Ryan Verbeem, the female MVP was Frankie Gawryluik, the male Coach鈥檚 award went to Austin LeBlanc, and the female Coach鈥檚 award went to Katelyn Franklin.
For the junior high grades, the following were the Activity award recipients. In junior drama, the MVP was Abby Akins, and the Advisor鈥檚 award went to Bransyn Lyon. In junior jazz band, Arliss Sidloski received the MVP award, and Jayda Cameron got the Advisor鈥檚 award. In junior choir, the MVP was Kristen Fortune, and the Advisor鈥檚 award was presented to Ross VanDeWeyer.
For the junior SRC, the 鈥淟eading the Leaders鈥 award went to Emma Wiens, and the Most Dedicated Jr. SRC member was Rumina Edgerton.
In junior cheer, the MVP was Elise Colbow, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Shae Pelechaty. In junior pom, the MVP went to Ava Morfitt, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Abbi Kenway. For junior track, the MVP was Brett Bowler, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Chandler Dickie.
For junior cross-country, the MVP was Arliss Sidloski, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Kira Barham.
For freshman boys鈥 volleyball, the MVP was Blake Anderson, and the coach鈥檚 award went to Mark Escario. For freshman girls鈥 volleyball B team, the MVP was Jorde Chartrand, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Rese King. For the freshman girls A team, the MVP was Chandler Dickie and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Jayce Rowland.
For rookie boys鈥 volleyball, the MVP was Alex Lund, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Carter Brown. For the rookie girls鈥 volleyball, the MVP was Shelby Williamson, and Mya Folk took home the Coach鈥檚 award.
The freshman boys鈥 basketball MVP was Amiel Verdejo, while Kyle Barrett received the Coach鈥檚 award. For the freshman girls鈥 basketball, the MVP was Soraya Blunt, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Rese King. For rookie boys鈥 basketball, the MVP was Sawyer Kopec, and Ty Petersen got the Coach鈥檚 award. For rookie girls鈥 basketball, the MVP was Althea De Jesus, and the Coach鈥檚 award went to Bethany Honig.
For junior boys鈥 curling, the MVP was Ty Nikolejsin, and Mason Thackeray won the Coach鈥檚 award. For junior mixed curling, the MVP was Jaylynn Haupstein, while Shayla Moore won the Coach鈥檚 award.
In junior badminton, the MVP was presented to both Ethan Petersen and Ty Nikolejsin.
