The 5th annual Weyburn Culture Days are set for September 26 and 27 with celebrations taking part at the Signal Hill Arts Centre, the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre, the Weyburn Public Library and the Soo Line Historical Museum.

The Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre will be promoting a Heritage Showcase on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Both days will showcase ethnic displays on the upper level with ethnic food available at a small cost on Saturday, on the lower level.

The Weyburn Public Library will be featuring yarn bombing displays outside the library all weekend. There will also be quilts on display inside the library. RCMP uniforms will be on site and someone will be on hand to talk about the history of the RCMP. This special Heritage Hands on RCMP will take place Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

There will be free admission to the Soo Line Historical Museum from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. both days with a draw for a $1,000 gift certificate. Tickets will be available to purchase at the museum.

As part of the Weyburn Culture Day celebration, Signal Hill Arts Centre is encouraging the public to take advantage of special workshops at no charge. The workshops are 50 minutes in length and are available at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. In these workshops, the public will participate in a fun 'Drawing People Workshop.' They will learn the basics of drawing human bodies, faces, hands and clothes as well as a variety of useful body positions. There are limited spots available, so participation is on a first come basis.

Culture Days is a local, provincial and national celebration that aims to increase the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in Cultural activities in their communities. It includes all areas of culture: arts, heritage, multicultural, ethno-cultural, First Nations, Métis cultures and creative industries.
