Pioneer Day Camp at the Souris Valley Museum kicked off on Monday where local children can have some summer fun learning about the history of the Estevan area.
The camp, aimed at children ages four to seven, teaches through crafts, games and other entertaining endeavours during weekday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
鈥淚t鈥檚 just a thing to get kids interested in the museum and interested in the history of Estevan and get kids out here for the summer,鈥 said Megan Pippus, education assistant for the Souris Valley Museum.
鈥淭hey learn about farming and how people used to live back then; so with a lot of our displays we ask the kids to compare what they have during the day in their lives to what鈥檚 here and we show them the differences and how people used to live compared to now.鈥
Though the first run of the Pioneer Day Camp ends today there is still another opportunity to register during the summer, with the next available Pioneer Camp running from July 31 to August 4.
There is also a two day Discovery Day Camp where children are brought around Estevan and shown different locations in the city, which take place July 26 to 26 and again on August 9 to 10, as well as a Pioneer Playtime for toddlers ages two and three, which takes place on July 27 and 28.
