Over the past few weeks several complaints have been received at the Police Service regarding Ransomware.
Ransomware is a computer virus/malware that freezes your computer with a pop up message about child pornography and illegal music downloading. The message asks that the recipients send $100 so their computer will be unlocked. 'If you are seeing this message on your computer, you are already infected.'
The Weyburn Police Service recommends that if you believe you are infected use an up-to-date computer virus program to try and fix the problem, or go to a local computer service center. You should also contact the police.
