Cattle markets see another spring decrease
A total of 6,917 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan the week ending May 12, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture. This figure drops from 8,494 head sold the previous week, but up from 5,368 head the same week a year ago.

Producers make good seeding progress
Despite recent cool and wet weather, good seeding progress was made for much of the province this past week. Saskatchewan Agriculture reported that 30 per cent of the 2017 crop is now in the ground as of May 15.

Cattle sales slow slightly at Assiniboia auction
The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held its regular cull cow and bull sale on May 10 with 429 head sold. Heiferettes jumped $0.11 on the previous sale to sell from $1.21 per lb. to $1.50 per lb. D1 and D2 cows rose $0.08 selling between $1.08 to $1.
