The Alida Rec. Board will not be hosting a Sports Day again this year. Instead, they decided to have a Summer BBQ Package Raffle, with items related to a barbecue (plates, chairs, lights, food, etc.

Cheers: Cheers to the Royal Canadian Legion Estevan branch鈥檚 staff, cooks and volunteers for the fundraiser roast beef supper held on May 1. The food was awesome, and the event was very well organized.

It appears that Canadians鈥� concerns have been heard over Bill C-10 鈥� the federal Liberal government鈥檚 new legislation that would have clamped down on new media platforms, including social media.

My Nikkel鈥檚 Worth column

It was one of those ideas that had to be shelved for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it appears to be ready to go now. The Estevan Downtown Business Association鈥檚 first outdoor market is slated to occur Thursday night.

The past year sure made things look different. Like a mirror, it flipped everything. I won't pretend that I'm still a big fan of Zoom wine and cheese nights. They were a lot of fun a year ago. We even had a high school class reunion over Zoom.

When people give me cards or notes of encouragement, I put them in a file folder called 鈥淣ice Stuff.鈥� After many years, that folder is so full that I am scared to take it out of the filing cabinet because it might explode all over my office.

The Homespun Walking Path Committee and the Carlyle and District Lions Club are saluting Wade Trippel and Darcy Howe for the removal of dead wood at Lions Park.
