Many creative opportunities abound in 2012 for those interested in becoming more involved in the Arts and Culture in Weyburn.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the two-week period of December 19 to January 3: Over the reporting period the police dealt with 154 calls for service, including attending two residential and two commercial alarms.

The Lomond 4-H Beef Club held their monthly meeting at Oungre Park on December 5. The meeting began with the 4-H pledge and the members and parents discussing the following new business: 1) Weigh day for our steers. 2) Weight guess for our steers.

The Brokenshell Parks and Recreation Board is appealing to the public to support them as they try to fund-raise to save the Trossachs Hall.

The Stoughton Curling Club will host the 2011-12 junior mens curling championships from Jan. 5 to 9. A total of 12 teams will compete at this event, after qualifying from either the northern playdowns, the southern playdowns or qualifying spiels.

David Andrew Houston, late of Weyburn passed away December 23, 2011, at the age of 90 years. David was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Eliza Houston; sister, Agnes Hall.
