The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club's annual Christmas social will be held on December 21 at the Wheatland Senior Centre starting with a turkey dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by an evening of bridge.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of December 5 to 11: During the reporting period, police received 116 calls for service. Three residential break and enters were reported.

Any variety of different circumstances can leave individuals or families alone for Christmas, but the holidays are often the most difficult time for those who have recently lost a loved one.

Band director Tanya Camerson, at rear right, directs the Comp's Jazz band in a jazzy rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock" as part of their repertoire for the Christmas concert held on Dec. 13 in the Comp Cafetorium.

In the Wings' first game of the week they hosted their highway 39 rivals from Estevan and won a tough battle 6-4 on December 6. Each team scored once in the first period.

Semester 1 final exams will be held from December 19 to 23 at the Weyburn Comprehensive School. Classes resume for the second semester on January 5, 2012.

Maye Wallace, late of Weyburn passed away December 4, 2011, at the age of 93 years. Maye was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Rebecca Wallace; sister, Margaret Tallman; two brothers, William Wallace and Robert Wallace.
