A total of 436 people signed the Visitors鈥� Book at the Canora Visitors鈥� Centre/Station House Museum during the 2015 tourist season, Joy Stusek said in her report to the Seneca Root Association鈥檚 fall meeting in Sturgis on October 21.

The public鈥檚 assistance is requested in helping to solve a recent rash of break and enters in the Canora/Sturgis detachment areas.

Brandi Zavislak, someone with long ties to the community, has been hired as the town鈥檚 community development officer. She started work on October 28.

On October 30, eight students, one from each grade at the Canora Composite School, were selected to receive Crossroads Credit Union Student-of-the-Month awards for October.

During the last few years it has been necessary several times to reach back into The Canora Courier files and retell the stories about several of the local veterans of the Great Wars.

Our community is mourning the passing of Nyle James following a brief battle with cancer. Nyle and Judy have lived in GSA for many years. Nyle was a carpenter who worked in many homes and businesses in GSA as well as surrounding communities.

For the past six years, students who are now in Grade 12, have been partnering with some of the youngest students at Canora Junior Elementary School to create wonderful jack-o鈥�-lanterns in time for Halloween.

鈥淲hat a season!鈥� Shyla Yannoulis, the assistant coach of the Canora Cougars junior girls volleyball team, used those three words to describe the Cougars鈥� season following the gold medal win at the Districts tournament on Saturday.
