The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Service was held on February 19 at Trinity United Church in Preeceville. The service was sponsored by the Preeceville and District Ministerial Association.

Families were encouraged during the month of February to spend quality time together in a program sponsored by the Family Resource Centre as a fun way for families to participate in an activity challenge contest.

The Preeceville peewee hockey team, which had its provincial dreams dashed with a double loss to Kipling on February 19 in Kipling and then again in Preeceville on February 21, are now focused on league playoffs.

Two rinks tie for top spot at the Norquay Seniors Bonspiel held February 20 to 23. Rinks attended from Sturgis, Canora, Swan River, Bowsman, Preeceville, Kamsack and Yorkton.

There were sixteen teams participating in the regional cribbage category of the Parkland Valley district in the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness 55 Plus games. The cribbage games were hosted by the Sturgis READ Club on February 25.

The Preeceville School encouraged students and parents to pick up books and read during World Read Aloud Day on February 16.

Bert Suknasky, a Sturgis town councillor, received a positive impression from the SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association) convention held in Saskatoon February 4 to 8. "The convention was very informative," said Suknasky.

The Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes are preparing their 37 th annual Mini-Miracle and organizers have said they have a full stage of talent lined up.

Members of the Preeceville CWL have joined their national organization in objecting to a television series dealing with assisted suicide.

The Sturgis Curling Club hosted two separate fun bonspiels, a mixed and a kids’ bonspiel from February 13 to 17. There were 10 rinks entered in the mixed event and 11 rinks entered in the kids’ competition.
