The Preeceville School track-and-field team had 21 athletes who had earned the privilege to advance from pre-districts to the District meet that was hosted in Yorkton last month.

The Town of Preeceville recreation department has been working hard to keep the summer fun activities rolling for all ages. The rock wall offered many challenges of many difficulties on May 24 at the Preeceville Skating Rink grounds.

The students and their parents enjoyed challenging their physical and mental abilities when they had the opportunity to climb a rock wall.

The Sturgis READ club and the students of the grades 6 and 7 class at the Sturgis Composite High School joined together for three afternoons of old time dancing. The dancing took place over the course of the year and concluded May 24.

Jordan Innes and Garrett Bazuik of the Sturgis Composite High School brought home silver medals from the junior badminton districts which were hosted in Yorkton on May 3.

Children in the Sturgis area have welcomed the opportunity to play ball once again in the community. It has been over six years since the ball diamonds have been utilized at the sportsgrounds.

The Preeceville School Community Council spearheaded a community garden project that provided a learning opportunity for students. The organizers were Vereen Primeau, Janeen Covlin, Megan Maier and Kim Sandager.

Residents from the local and surrounding areas united as one in the fight against the Sunrise Health Region鈥檚 announcement on May 17 that it was closing the emergency and acute care departments at the Preeceville and District Health Centre.
