Activities planned to honour school staff

I am so excited about this month as it is filled with two of my favourite events - celebrating family birthdays and watching the best of curling on TV. Opening ceremonies for the Olympics will also be on the agenda.

Minnehaha snowmobile rally Feb. 16

We have a bit of catching up to do this week. Things have been slow around Edam in the news department. The last trip of the month draw for 2013 was won by Brian and Carol Weber of Vawn, with Terry Chambers of Turtleford winning the $100.

Cold week survived, with no envy of weather elsewhere

It was another cold week, but we survived and look with amazement at weather in other parts of the world. We are happy to be where we are. Four tables of Canasta had a pleasant evening on Jan. 31.

Looking back

It's Archives Week in North Battleford. Planned for the week are displays at the two malls. Friday, the City of North Battleford Historic Archives will host a digital presentation and display at the Frontier Mall from noon until 5 p.m.

Since last St. Walburg Royal Purple report, members enjoyed a December potluck supper, meeting and Christmas party attended by 32 members. District Deputy Dorothea Hocher made her official visit that night as well.

Allie Raycraft could still be working, but just over a year ago she said, "I'm 76 years old. I don't think I need to do this any more." Raycraft was born in Inverness, Que., which is a small community in Megantic County.

The only thing better than one grand piano is two grand pianos. At an upcoming concert at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts in North Battleford, a piano duo will headline the show.
