River Heights Lodge held Family Fun Night events Sept. 19 and 20. A portion of each evening was spent on the soon-to-be-famous pie contest, complete with celebrity pie judges.

From the balance of a peacock feather on his nose, to the rainbow skywriter, to the spectacular and nearly disastrous high-wire walk, Flyin' Bob takes students on a one-hour search for balance.

Ray Cox, founder of the Cowboy Christmas Parade, is hosting a new fundraising event in conjunction with the parade this year. A Cowboy Parade Dinner and Dance will be held Friday, Nov. 2 at the Battleford Legion Hall. Supper is at 6:30 p.m.

Students and teachers throughout North Battleford and area have returned to the classroom this month, enthusiastically greeting the new school year.

The fall school term is well underway and the school bus drivers are being kept busy. Both Sandra and Ruth Sutherland go different directions from the village.

Autumn is upon us, readying our homes for the colder months, basking in the sunshine for the final drop of warmth. The brilliant changing of seasons around us right now is the only season that nature uses her complete pallet of colour.

The North Battleford Western Development Museum has a full slate of events planned for Friday to celebrate Culture Days. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with admission free and complimentary coffee for attendees.

Tillie Linkert was to Edmonton for an eye appointment. Her daughter, Kelly and Ray Gabruch, took her. After the appointment they went to Sylvan Lake to visit a grandson and family, then to Calgary, where they visited two more grandsons and families.

The fine weather, very much like summer, has made it possible for great progress in harvesting. The last few days have seen many fields emptied and several farmers completing their harvest.

Harvest is still chugging along with great seasonal temperatures aiding the process. And of course the absence of Jack Frost, so far, is also helpful. Delta Co-op has discovered the Riders are coming to their location Oct. 1.
