Father's music inspires songwriting hobby

I am writing in remembrance of my dad, who passed away Sept. 11, 1993. His birthday was Aug. 15, 1924. He was a champion violin player. I overheard him one time saying he used to play fiddle with Don Messer. He taught me how to play a bit of guitar.

The Village of Paynton will be holdinga general election Oct. 24.Nominations are in and it will be interesting to see who gets elected this term. Paynton and District Fire Department has received new equipment.

Auxiliary notes

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 142 met for the first meeting after summer break Sept. 4. It was a quiet summer with not much activity. The group had to turn down some activities because of lack of help.
